Day 12: Koulourakia

Visiting my family always means two things- lots of family time and lost of food. One of my favorite recipes my yiayia (grandmother) makes are her cookies. They aren't a chocolate chip cookie and it isn't something you could find in your local grocery store- it's unique to her and I love them.

They're perfect to dunk in your coffee, to eat on the go, or to have as a little snack but be warned they are super addictive and it's ridiculously hard to have just one.

I am not going into detail about what the ingredients are because honestly, even after seeing and writing down how my yiayia makes them, I'm still not exactly sure what is in it. I will be remaking these once I run out of this stash (doesn't take long to go through since I eat them everyday and share my stash with my husband's best friend).

So here is a vague idea of the ingredients.. I'll repost the recipe once I try them out at home.

*Ingredients
Flour
Canola Oil
Sugar
Orange Juice
Lemon
Salt
Baking Powder
Baking Soda
Cinnamon
Ground Clove

*Directions
Beat oil, sugar, orange juice, and lemon juice in stand mixer while you prepare other ingredients. Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and clove and incorporate completely. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and stir to combine; do not over-mix. Add 1/2 cup of flour to reach proper consistency of dough. Once consistency is reached, let dough sit for 15 minutes. Then shape koulourakia into desired shape and bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes.
Enjoy!
